ReFED Recognized as Top Charity by Industry Leaders

September 13, 2024

For the second year in a row, ReFED has received top honors for its stewardship of resources and transparency to donors.

ReFED received a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar), which provides the most comprehensive data and insights about the social sector. The recognition highlights ReFED’s clear communication of its goals, strategies, and impact. In addition, Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-utilized independent charity evaluator, gave ReFED its highest possible rating of four stars. This rating designates ReFED as an official “Give with Confidence” charity, indicating that the organization is using its donations effectively based on Charity Navigator’s criteria, which include financial efficiency, sustainability, and trustworthiness.

“These important achievements reflect our commitment to accountability to our donors and supporters who power our work,” says Shawn Shepherd, vice president of operations and finance at ReFED. “When you give to ReFED, you can do so with the peace of mind that your contribution will be spent wisely and help us catalyze the food system toward evidence-based action to stop wasting food.”
